to make art, or buy it?

if you're an artist, such as myself, it's natural to want to support your fellow artists. but that usually entails buying their art. but if you also make art for a living, that leaves you with a dilemma: is it better to just make art for yourself, or is it fine to buy someone else's art every once and a while?

i had this thought after buying a construction paper cutout portrait of an owl at a vendor market:

the artist goes by "Batcraft Creations" on facebook. go check out her work!

i also have a sizeable collection of cassette tapes of local artists and friends' music, right here:

you can find these artists, including Yea Big, Drazek Fuscaldo, Swim Ignorant Fire, kare.pkg, Creatian/Heap, and Webpage 505, on bandcamp. check them out; they're very talented!

the point is, i bought these because i wanted to support other artists in their journey. they have to put food on the table just like i do. but why should i, an artist, buy someone else's art when i can just make it myself, you ask? because we have to be there for each other. to only care about your own art is kinda selfish. as artists, we're all in this together.
