i didn't know they were popular until later
alright guys, gals, and non-binary pals, it's story time! today i want to talk about my experiences with some of my music video clients.
for a long time, i've had clients reaching out to me first, which means that i often don't know how popular an artist who reaches out to me is until i look them up. and so, when i do look them up and find out they're pretty popular, it comes as a pleasant surprise to me. i have had 3 such clients, and you might have seen my videos for them on my video gallery page.
first up is PINK TURNS BLUE, a rock band famous for their darkwave sound. after i finished their video for the first single of their latest album Black Swan, i had told their guitarist mic jogwer (the one who placed the order) in a message that i had no idea their band was so popular, and it was an honor to be part of their history. one of my peers on a forum i frequent even told me that they saw them in concert once! how cool is that?
second is SkyBlew, a rapper who's been in the game for more than a decade. he's known for his song "Light Switch", which was featured in the soundtrack of the game bomb rush cyberfunk. knowing this, when i worked with him for a second video (the one i linked here), i knew i had to make something extraordinary, not just "good".
third is Marc With a C, an indie pop singer-songwriter and social activist who's been making music since 1999, and has released 18 studio albums. he even has his own wikipedia page, just like pink turns blue! and you know an artist means business when they have a wikipedia page. ;)
what to take from all this? well, you'll never know if who you're talking to is popular until later on, so if you work with them, be sure to give it your all.
