is it wrong to change your mind?
any long-time reader with a keen eye will notice that i've been making a lot of changes around the website. design renovations, tags, unpublishing certain blog posts, all that good stuff. oh yeah, and adding little doodles at the end of my blog posts. but why is that?
no particular reason. i just change my mind a lot. but there's nothing wrong with that, right?
change is important. no one can stay set in their ways forever. it helps to adapt and realize what isn't working, what can be done differently, what can be done better, etc. it's especially important in the arts, because when you remain at one skill level or technique for your whole life, you end up growing complacent, too comfortable, averse to taking risks. you need only watch Kitchen Nightmares to learn what can go wrong if you resist change.
but, for a more specific example, go to my earlier blog post about my website design history, and why i ultimately chose bear blog. in short, as i improved as an artist, i took on one of my greatest risks that paid off: learning HTML and CSS. it was taking that risk that inspired me to let go of straw.page. as for the renovations i've made to my bear website... well, redecorating is just really fun as you learn new techniques, what can i say? i mean, how many times by now have i changed the look of my toast button?
over on the studio side, some backstory: during the first week of may 2026, i took a week off of doing animation to reevaluate my techniques. i knew that i had to diversify my style in order to create more high-quality projects. ultimately, that reevaluation led to more music videos such as:
so, no, it's not wrong to change your mind. actually, changing your mind could be the best thing you ever do.
but in case you're concerned that changing your mind too frequently will cause confusion among your peers, i understand that. but still don't be ashamed. the human mind is dynamic and adaptable. we're always trying to figure out who we are.
