my mind was drawing blanks

what to write, what to write?

that's the question on every writer's mind when they get to their notebook or keyboard. substitute "write" with any other term related to creation as needed.

what to write, what to draw, what to play, what to read...

i'm not immune to facing that question. sometimes, i don't even know where to start. it's healthy to build a habit of something to stretch your mind with, whether it's writing in a journal, creating art, playing an instrument, or reading a book. whatever it may be. the hardest part of building this habit is figuring out the answer to that aforementioned question. this question gets even harder when you are in a position to write, create art, or make music as a profession.

every week, i go to my journal, and think, "what should i write about today? maybe a behind-the-scenes of a recent project? maybe a look into the artistic mind? maybe another post complaining about smartphones and AI? (no way, everyone else has already done that! tenfold!) oh, or maybe, i can talk about this cool photo i took!"

same thing when i get to the studio. "what should this project look like? what color should i use? does this look good? is this shape where it needs to be? is my client going to like this at all? am i running out of ideas and i should just send them what i have and call it a day?"

but then i drop it, because my mind is drawing blanks. i step away, and think about it later. and i know, some day, by whatever means, i will find the answer to that question...

well, mind, i think i have an answer now. what to write? how about a blog post about how hard it is to figure out what to write? does that answer the question?
