to build an online space

well well well, would you look at that? after almost a year of tinkering, i finally have my own online space that i'm happy with! took me long enough hehe...

"why build an online space, anyway?" you may ask. "isn't everyone just using facebook and discord?" well... here's what you need to ask yourself. are you actually happy on the big social networks?

think of that question a second time. are you actually happy on the big social networks?

it feels as if facebook, discord, instagram, twitterX, tik tok, reddit and the like, have got humans on a stranglehold. we have to rely on these 6 massive central social networks owned by a bunch of rich idiots, because that's what they want us to think. and hey, everyone else is doing it, so why not? but truthfully, you really don't have to. never did.

there's an entire realm to browse on the world wide web, a fact that many people will need to know if the big 6 social networks continue making the experience of using them worse and worse. you've got websites for recipes, art portfolios, work resumes, independent forum boards, and of course, personal blogs. all sorts of websites, designed and tailored exactly to the site owner's whims. they've always been around, and they will continue to be around so long as humans are humans.

and neither a facebook page, nor a discord server, will ever compare to that

so, build your online space. what do you have to lose?
